Episode 74 Scottevest Peformance T-Shirt review

Episode 74 we review the Performance T-Shirt from ScotteVest (SeV) in this video episode. This is my first time reviewing a piece of Technology enabled clothing (TEC) as promoted by Scottevest. I was very surprised when the shirt arrived, it was well made, descrete and very comfortable to wear. I am reviewing the 1 pocket version in Black material, there is also a 3 pocket version of this shirt available in several colors. The pocket was located up by my left shoulder and offers a zipper to secure in any items. The pocket has ample room for ipods, mp3 players and smartphones. I even use it to stash some cash when I'm out and dont want to carry a wallet.  What is called a personal area network amounts to a design that allows you to feed the headphone cable through an opening on the inside of the shirt pocket and allows you to bring the cable up and out the neck opening. This allows for easy access and you do not have the wires all over the place. It is really a clean look when used.

Episode 73 - Podsplus Aluminum V2 iPod video case review

Episode 73 we review the AluminumV2 iPod video case from PodsPlus in this video episode. The case is made from aluminum not unlike several other cases on the market, this case is seperated by one additional featrue. The clickwheel is protected by a silicone cover that is built into the case, this allows for additional protection without loose usability. Available color choices are black metal with 4 color choices on the wheel cover or a silver case with black wheel cover.  A built in durable clear screen protector is there to keep you from damaging the iPod's display. Overall the case is very tought and with added protection I would place this one infront of the other metal cases on the market. Other accessories included are the removable belt clip and lanyard cable.

Episode 72 Marware Trail Vue iPod video case review - 5G

Episode 72 we review the Trail Vue iPod video case from Marware in this video episode. The Trail Vue case offers a durable and urban style case with a inter-changable bungee system that allows you to customize the look of the case. The bungees offer 5 color choices and are easy to switch out. The case offers good protection and is a flip front style of the case. There is screen protection via the built in plastic covering. With the cut outs for headphones and docking port you can use the iPod with much need for removing it from the case.

Marware Sidewinder iPod video case review - Episode 71

Episode 71 we review the Marware SideWinder iPod video case in this video episode.  Overall case design is on the talk side of things. The case is a little bulky but not too big. If you are looking for a really tough case and don't like the armor cases. This will be a good option for you. The case is made from durable plastic and includes screen protection, belt clip, desk stand and heaphone cord winder. The case also stands up nice on your desk to watch video with the built in leg. The sidewinder feature of the case has a slide out drawer that allows you to wrap cables around to cut down on the mess cable cause. I like the fresh design of this case compared to the typical aluminum ones for this market segment.

Episode 70 Rhinoskin iPod video leather case review

Episode 70 we review the Rhinoskin leather iPod video case in this video episode. There are two colors available for this case. (Black & Pink) I think the case design is just average and has been done by many vendors. Rhinoskin does use a nice quality of leather to build these cases, which produces a case that looks and feels good. The front cover opens by flipping it open and locks into place with a magnetic closure. There are a couple of card slots inside the case to allow your to carry cards or other thin items. Item is available in two sizes, one that accomodates the 30gb and one for 60/80Gb iPod Video players.

Episode 67 - Apple games for iPod w/video Review

Episode 67 we review the new games for Apple iPod w/video in this video segment. I downloaded a couple of the new games relased for iPods. There are several popular titles available with more sure to be coming soon. There is also talk about a software development kit that might be coming to allow others to create games for iPods. I thought both games looked great and were a little harder to get the controls mastered at first. But once you get the hang of it they are sure to provide hours of fun.

Episode 22 - iSkin EVO3 Video iPod Case Review

iskin evo3 ipod video case Episode 22 we review the 5G Video iPod Case from iSkin in this video segment. The iSkin EVO3 iPod Video case is available in six colors (Blush Pink, Arctic Clear, Sonic Blue, Eclipse Black, Blaze Red and Atomic Green). A clear hard plastic screen protector called the VISOR protects the front of the iPod. The Visor floats just above the iPod's front in between two layers of the silicone case.  The EVO3 also features the Revo2 belt clip which has been redesigned to be stronger than previous versions. The belt clip is rotable and will lock into several different spots. The revo2 clip can be removed from the case that allows a flat back for users that do not need a belt clip. The click wheel is covered by a thin layer of silicone that protects the wheel from scratches, moisture and dust. The wheel is still fully usable with the covering. The hold switch is also covered by silicone, but is designed to allow the switch to still function. iSkin has also included their docking port connection cover on the EVO3 case like previous versions. This is a flip open piece of the case that keeps the docking port on the bottom of the iPod clean and is easily opened for cable connections.

Episode 64 Marware iPod car charger Video Review

Episode 64 we review the iPod car charger Marware. There are countless auto chargers available for iPods available on the market currently. Marware deserves some credit for bring a new idea to this stale product sector. They have designed a nice looking black car charger for iPods. The charger is shaped with a bubble that allows for easier gripping and a red LED on the top shows that the unit is getting power.

Episode 62 - Lumi iPod safety flasher light review

Episode 62 we review the Safety flasher for iPods from Lumi Ventures. The Lumi flasher is a  flashlight and safety flasher built  for use with most iPod models. The flasher connects to the docking connector of the iPod. The light uses battery power from the iPod and does not require seperate batteries. This light offers 6 flashing modes and a flashlight mode. The LED lights are bright and I was suprised by the amount of light that was put out. There are both red and clear LED's in the device and when blinking you  will be seen out on the road. I used my in combination with an iPod armband for safety while biking and running.  The Lumi is available in two colors (white or black).

Episode 59 - Speck Products Tough Skin iPod video case review

Episode 59 we review the Speck Tough skin case for iPod video.  The iPod Tough Skin is a ruggedized polymer material case. The polmer looks and acts like a tough version of most silicone style cases. The tough skin is created for the iPod users that need some extra protection, and do not want to go with a metal case. The case offers protection for the iPod screen with a clear hard plastic cover that can easily be removed.

Episode 58 - The TinPod ipod hard case review

Episode 58 we review the TinPod iPod case. The case is made from tin and is lined with 3mm of soft neoprene for excellent protection. When your iPod is in the TinPod there is little doubt about its safety. The case fully protects the case expect for the opening on the top for connecting in your headphones. This case is available in 3 colorful designs each limited to 5,000 pieces each. This gives you a chance to benefit from a cool case and rockin design. I used this case mostly when using my backpack, since it offers great protection and I did not need to access the screen or control wheel.

Episode 56 - Vaja iPod Video SP leather case I-Volution review

Episode 56 we review the Vaja iPod Video SP leather case. The Vaja SP case is a sporty looking case, kind of looks like a racing stripe.  Most people know that Vaja makes an awesome case bar none. One cool thing is that Vaja is coming up with some new designs to freshen up there quality cases. They have released this SP case, a world cup case, a rasta case and one that features crystals. The case is a sleeve style case in the i-Volution series that has been around for a while now. The iPod slides into the case from the top and allow open access to the hold switch and headphone port. The iPod is a bit tough to remove from the case. The screen and clickwheel are both protected by thin film covers. The clickwheel is still usable and does not alter the look. Vaja offers there cases without a belt clip or with a couple of clipping options. (plastic or metal clips) There are about 1000 color combinations for this case that you may choose from. You can easily select something to match your favorite team, car or outfit.  The bottom of the case has an opening for the docking connector. The opening is large enough for most cable to connect through, but most bottom mount accessories would not work with the case on.

Episode 55 - iJet Wireless RF remote for iPod review

Episode 55 we review the iJet Wireless RF remote control.  To start with a statement to sum up this product, it's by far the best remote control for iPods that I have ever used. The range for the remote is said to be 150 feet and from my testing it does come very close to this range. The iJet uses RF technology which is radio frequeny versus other remotes that use infra-red light technology. The infra-red remotes require line of sight and have a much shorter range. The RF signals will penetrate through most home walls to enable you to use the remote in the kitchen while your iPod might be in the bedroom. The remote is available in a white or black version to match current iPods.  I love the fact the the received part that connects to the iPod has a docking port pass-thru connector. This feature allows me to use the remote and a car charger at the same time, or a FM transmitter. The remote is water resistant and has a ring to attach to your key chain if you wish. This version of the iJet is designed to work with the full size iPods, but will also work with the Nano and iPod mini.

Episode 52 - Vakadoo iPod Video case review

Episode 52 we review the Vakadoo iPod case. The Vakadoo line of cases is a new company to the iPod case market. This type of hard plastic case has been done by other manufacturers, but the Vakadoo has a totally unique locking mechanism. There are no hinges and it does not use some primitive clips. The company designed a unique secure locking system that produces a tight closure. The case is made from hard plastic and is available in two finishes. There is a soft feel case that is actually covered in liquid rubber and available in 6 colors.(Purple, White, Blue, Black, Green and Pink) The other style is the Domino series that has a glossy lacquer finish that is available in white or black colors. The cases are available in two sizes for 30 or 60gb Video iPods. Vakadoo is a European company and maybe that is were the fresh ideas are coming from. The screen of your iPod is protected by a built in clear hard plastic screen protector. Other ports like the hold switch, headphone port and docking connector all have openings for easy access. The case may prevent you from using some add on accessories that attach to the bottom of your iPod with the case on.

Episode 51 - Xtrememac TuffWrap Accent iPod video case review

Episode 51 we review the Tuffwrap accent case from Xtrememac. The TuffWrap accent set of cases for iPod video offer a fresh look to the over saturated silicone case market. These are not a new item but we have just not had time to review them. The case is made from silicone but is set apart from others with its color and design options. There are 6 color option available. You should be able to find a color no matter what your favorites are. The case is accented with raised surfaces on the front and back that are set off with different colors from the base case. The sides of the case are ribbed to reduce the chance of the case slipping while in your hands. The Tuffwrap offers a removable hard plastic screen protector and also includes a thin film cover for the clickwheel. The case does not offer a belt clip, but this is not a problem for many users. I definitely like these cases would use them over most other silicone cases currently available.

Episode 43 - RhinoSkin iPod video case

rhino skin ipod videoEpisode 43 we review the iPod Video Case (5G) from Rhino Skin in this video segment. Rhino skin’s hard case for the iPod Video is a good looking mixture of metal and plastic. The front of the case is made from clear hard plastic. The screen is protected by the plastic front; there is an opening for the click wheel. This makes the click wheel easy to access and use, but also leaves it exposed to the elements. The back of the case is made from a very tough aluminum. It’s one of the tougher metal cases that I have used. A plastic removable belt clip is included with the case. The clip attaches to the case with a screw in post that is removable for a flat surface. For those of you lanyard users the case also includes a nice looking lanyard that connects to the back of the case just above the belt clip. Something that I like about this case was the way the iPod fits into the case; it is designed as a sleeve style case. This means the case does not open up and the iPod slides into the case from the top. With this design you get a very nice fit and no worries about the case flopping open if you are a careless user. Two small rubber pads on the sides of the case provide a non-slip gripping surface.
